Kirchdorf in Tirol consists of several villages, hamlets and a great number of scattered settlements: the fast growing village of Kirchdorf, which is situated away from the main road, Gasteig, which is situated 100 m above Kirchdorf on the road to Kössen, and the large village of Erpfendorf, which is located at the junction, from which a road links it with Salzburg in the east and Bavaria in the north. The name "Kirchdorf" indicates that the area in which the village is situated has been settled for a long time and has a long ecclesiastical history. Apart from agriculture tourism is very important due to the beauty of the surrounding landscape. |
