Schwendt, the smallest of the three villages in the Kaiserwinkel region, lies at the foot of the Unterberghorn Mountain and on the northern foothills of the Wilden Kaiser Mountain. Besides St. Jakob in Haus, Schwendt has the lowest population in the district of Kitzbühel. Between 1869 and 1939 the village suffered from a phase of migration of its population, but since the 1970's population figures have doubled. The rural, unspoiled landscape is characterized by striking farmhouses and traditional guesthouses. In Schwendt tourism is based on recreation in the surrounding nature.
