Flaurling is situated on the fan of Kanzing Torrent. It was first mentioned in 763 and during the late Middle Ages it was the parish for the surrounding settlements between Telfs and Zirl. It was therefore a regional centre in the eastern part of the Oberinntal region. Since 1816 Flaurling has been a politically independent village consisting of the scattered village of Flaurling, Flaurling-Berg on a terrace above the valley and the new settlement of Flaurling-Bahnhof around the station with its industrial area, which has grown significantly within the last years. There are still some remarkable, original farmhouses in Flaurling. In 1995 Flaurling won the prize for the best village renewal in the Tyrol.
