The vast village of Deutschnofen is situated in the northern part of the Regglberg high-plateau. The plateau, which is popular among hikers, continues south of the steep gorge of the Brantental. The village of Petersberg with numerous isolated farmhouses and Maria Weißenstein, South Tyrol's most famous pilgrimage site, are also situated on the plateau. The Latemar Mountain Range is located east of the Deutschnofen Plateau, making it one of the most beautiful places in South Tyrol. 70% of the land is covered by forests. Tourism, especially in the skiing area of Obereggen, has become more and more important within the last decades.
