The market town of Zell am Ziller is situated at the entrance of the Gerlostal in the Zillertal. The smallest settlement in the valley stretches between the Ziller and Gerlos River on the bottom of the valley. Due to its convenient geographical location and the gold mining over centuries and tourism, Zell has become the administrative centre in the valley. Various district offices, schools and the old people's home clearly indicate Zell's importance for the region. Zell, with its striking baroque church, Tyrol's oldest privately owned brewery, an excellent recreation park and the popular Gauder Feast, unites old tradition with new innovations. |
