The market town of Jenbach (since 1982) is situated in the centre of the Unterinntal region. Because of its geographical position at the entrance to the Zillertal and the road leading up to the Achental in the north, Jenbach is an important junction for road and rail traffic. The different gauges of three different rail lines (Westbahn, Zillertal- and Achenseebahn) in the train station of Jenbach are unique in Europe. Compact Jenbach with its worth visiting parish church from the 15th century is situated on the fan of the Kas Torrent, surrounded by extensive recent developments. The well known companies of the General Electrics Jenbacher have their origin in mills, blacksmiths and melting works along the Kas Torrent. A technical school for engineering makes Jenbach an educational centre of regional significance. |
