Buch in Tirol with its rising population figures is situated on the southern bank of the Inn River. The village encompasses Maurach, Buch, St. Margarethen and the part of Rotholz west of the Dorf Torrent, as well as the hamlets of Ober- and Untertroi on the mountain slope. The parish church stands on a rocky hill in Untertroi. During the Middle Ages copper and silver was mined in this region. Even though today's Buch bei Jenbach has a strong economy based on several small - and medium sized enterprises, agriculture and tourism, a significant number of people has to commute.
