Fügenberg is the largest village in the lower Zillertal. It encompasses the catching area of the Finsinggrund. Over centuries detached farmhouses and alpine pasture lands have characterized the landscape. 500 miners used to work in the iron mines and iron works during its heyday. Since a few decades tourism has a strong impact on Fügenberg with its skiing area of Hochfügen, around which hotels have been built at the altitude of 1500 m in the upper Finsingtal. A lovely eye catcher is the gothic pilgrimage church of St. Pankraz on the slopes of Fügenberg.
