Strass is situated at the confluence of the Ziller River and the Inn River. Two thirds of the village, including Rotholz, are located in the Inntal, the remaining third, including Strass, is situated at the entrance to the Zillertal. Rotholz is well known for its agricultural college. Castle Thurneck houses several state-, provincial- and district offices. New large companies have been established in Strass in recent times. The opening of the Brettfalltunnel bypass has relieved the village from the traffic strain. By the end of the 1980's a sewage treatment plant for the entire Zillertal was built. |
