Stanz bei Landeck is situated on a southerly exposed terrace 200 m above the district capital Landeck. Due to this location, the climate in Stanz is ideal for fruit-growing. The fruits, predominantly the "Stanzer plum", are used for the production of high-quality schnapps. The quality of these liquors has gained Stanz, with its 550 inhabitants, fame beyond the district. The baroque architect Jakob Prandtauer, who built Melk Abbey, was born in Stanz. |
