Montan, with the including village of Pinzon and numerous hamlets and isolated farmhouses, is situated on a terrace on the eastern slopes of the Bozner Unterland region. Its location above the Etschtal, has once made Montan a popular summer resort for the people from Auer and Neumarkt. Tourism still plays an important role in Montan, which also gains its income from fruit-growing and wine. Montan can be easily reached on the road from Auer to Kaltenbrunn and to the Fleimstal (Trentino).
