Ladis, 400 m above the bottom of the Inntal, lies on the sunny terrace of the Oberes Gericht region. The striking Castle Laudegg on a rocky hill was once the seat of a judge. Ladis is situated in a hollow between the rock with Castle Laudegg on it and the slopes of the Samnaun Mountain Range. Since the Middle Ages, Ladis has been a spa, famous for its springs with their sulphurous and acidic waters (Obladiser Sauerbrunn). Several richly ornamented houses reflect the times when Ladis had its court. Since the construction of the funicular connecting Ladis with the skiing area of Fiss-Serfaus, Ladis has attracted many tourists and new developments were built around the historical centre.
