The market town of Hopfgarten is the compact centre of the Brixental. Since the 17th century it has been a market town with a court. Haslau, with its silver and copper mining, made Hopfgarten famous. Since the building of the railroad, tourism next to the timber industry has become the main source of income. There are several hamlets and detached farmhouses on the slopes around Hopfgarten. Kelchsau is situated 8 km south of Hopfgarten in a valley next to the Brixental. |
