The market town of Fieberbrunn (790 m) stretches along the Fieberbrunner Ache River. It got its name from a medicinal spring which is still commemorated through the Fieberbrunner fountain and a statue of Margarete Maultasch. Due to its century-old mining tradition Fieberbrunn today is the largest and most important community in the Pillersee region. Summer- and winter tourism is part of the diverse economic structure of the market town. More houses have been built around the once detached farmhouses on the slopes. Today besides several hotels and restaurants, there are factories for shoes, pet toys, chemical-pharmaceutical products and timber industry. Fieberbrunn is well known for the annual snowboard-competition.
