Nals, one of the smallest villages in South Tyrol, is the most southern village in the district of Burggrafenamt. The village stretches from the right bank of the Etsch River up to the terraces of the Tisner Mountains. Nals is situated on a gentle fan of the Prissianer and Sirmianer Torrent. Like all villages at the bottom of the Etschtal south of Meran, Nals could reclaim the boggy floodplains after the melioration at the end of the 20th century. Two wine cellars and one warehouse for apples clearly indicate the importance of fruit-growing and wine for the economy of Nals.
