Rinn is situated on the southern Mittelgebirgs terrace in the central Inntal. Beside the scattered village, Rinn encompasses several other settlements with isolated farmhouses and numerous hamlets. One of the hamlets is the well known Judenstein, a formerly pilgrimage site (dedicated to the Anderl-von-Rinn-Cult) and a well known destination for a day trip. Agriculture is still very important in Rinn, which is an all-season recreational area for nearby Innsbruck. Even though a ski tow, a centre for cross-country skiing and a golf course were built, tourism has been limited. Many people in the popular residential area Rinn have to commute, due to a lack of local companies.
