Image collection »Schnalsbach«

The Schnalsbach runs through the Schnals Valley and flows into the Etsch near Naturns. In contrast to its upper reaches where agriculture is possible the underflow - shortly before the river meets the Etsch - is characterized by narrow gorges through which the water from the glaciers of the Ötztaler Alps fights its way through. There are several hydroelectric power stations with reservoirs along the river. The biggest reservoir is the Vernagt Reservoir.
