Image collection »Großache«

At St. Johann three rivers (Achen) meet: the ones from Fieberbrunn, Kitzbühel and the Reither Ache. Together these three rivers form the Großache. North of Kössen the river runs through the Entenlochklamm to Germany. Before a blasting this narrow gap was only 3,5 metres wide and therefore often caused flooding. The flume is very popular among white-water rafters. At the border the river gets a new name - Tiroler Ache - and later runs into the Chiemsee.
