The Etsch has its source at the Reschen Pass and flows into the Adriatic Sea south of Chioggia. From its source to its estuary the river runs more than 400 kilometres, making it the second longest river in Italy. Along the river, especially in the Vinschgau region and the Etsch Valley, fruit-growing benefits from the mild climate. The large cities of Meran and Bozen are situated along the Etsch River.
