Image collection »Valle di Sole«

The Valle di Sole stretches more than 50kms from the south-west (Cavizzana) to north-east (Passo Tonale). In the north it is limited by the Cevedale mountain group and in the south by the Presanella group. With the exception of the Valle di Sole where climatic conditions still make fruit-growing possible, the economy is to a great extent based on tourism and to a lesser extent on cattle rearing and wood-processing. The last electric railway in Italy (Trient-Marilleva) ran through the Val di Sole in 1909. The Val di Rabbi and the Val di Peio are part of the Nationalpark Stilfser Joch which was established in 1935 which, with its 134.620 hectares is one of the largest conservation areas in Europe.
