The village of Unsere Liebe Frau im Walde - St. Felix has belonged to the Province of Bozen since 1947. The former administratively independent villages joined together in 1974. Today St. Felix forms the administrative centre. Like the villages of Laurein and Proveis, it belongs to the german speaking villages in the Nonsberg region at the border to the Province of Trentino. The villages are located on the southern slopes of the Gampen Pass (Unsere Liebe Frau im Walde) and on the western slopes of the Mendel Mountain Crest (St. Felix). The villages can be reached over the Gampen Pass from Burggrafenamt and over the Mendel Pass from Überetsch. Traditionally the local economy is based on dairy farming and livestock, but the cultivation of vegetables and herbs has become an important additional source of income for the village in recent times.
