Tramin is one of the six villages in the district of Überetsch-Unterland, which have the term "an der Weinstraße" (along the wine route) attached to their name. Tramin, characterized by wine farms and the striking pointy steeple of the parish church, is situated on the gentle slopes of the Mendelzug Mountain on the west bank of the Etsch River. The villages of Söll in the north and Rungg in the south are also part of Tramin. The "Traminer Moos" Swamp between Kalterer See and Kurtinig was meliorated in the mid 18th century and forms the basis for the important fruit and wine growing business. The Gewürztraminer is the most popular wine in this area.
