Kaltenbach in the centre of the Zillertal consists of the village of Kaltenbach on the fan of the Kalten Torrent and the scattered village of Emberg. Emberg is characterized by the typical farmhouses of this region and the road to the "Hochzillertal" skiing area. In contrast to Emberg, Kaltenbach is characterized by numerous new houses, larger commercial enterprises and business, as well as one internationally known company for car equipment.
