Image collection »Waidring«

The final syllable "-ing" indicates that the area around Waidring was settled from Bavarians in the 5th and 6th century. Conveniently placed - as regards traffic routes - between the Leukental and the province of Salzburg, and the junction to Lake Piller and Fieberbrunn have led to a positive development of the scattered village. Waidring, formerly a purely rural village, has already been a climatic health resort in the late 19th century attracting tourists from Vienna. Today Waidring is popular among tourists from all over the world. With the skiing area Steinplatte within the border region of Salzburg, Bavaria and the Tyrol, Waidring has gained an international reputation as a ski resort.
