Image collection »Völs«

Völs, a suburb of Innsbruck, is situated in the centre of the Tyrolean Inntal, 6 km west the provincial capital. The population of Völs (6700) has increased by the six fold since 1951. In the course of this increase in the population the village has expanded enormously, which has led to a heterogeneous settlement. In contrast to the rural centre at the foot of the Blasiusberg Mountain (which consists of glacial gravel), the dominating Seesiedlung Settlement (which was built on the place of a former lake) with its blocks of flats and terraced houses makes Völs a dormitory town for nearby Innsbruck. Numerous marts near the highway clearly show the importance of Völs at the western fringe of Innsbruck.
