Image collection »Karnischer Hauptkamm«

The Karnischer Hauptkamm is a chain that forms a border with Italy and runs from the Sextental in a west-easterly direction through East Tyrol and Carinthia. The highest peak is the Hohe Warte (2780 m). Due to its geological make-up (limestone) the region is rich in fossils. The Karnische Höhenweg path makes it possible to search for fossils oneself. During world war I the frontline ran along the Karnischer Hauptkamm, reminders of which can still be seen today.
