The Venedigergruppe, part of the Hohen Tauern is demarcated by the Zillertaler Alpen and the Durreckgruppe (Ahrntal) in the west, the Lasöhrlinggruppe (Virgental) in the south, the Kitzbüheler Alpen (Oberpinzgau) in the north and the line Matrei-in-Osttirol - Mittersill in the east. The highest peak is the Großvenediger (3666 m). On this and further peaks, like for example, the Großer Geiger (3360 m), Dreiherrenspitze (3499 m) nad the Hohe Fürlegg (3243 m) there are large glacial areas which make up the main characteristic of this mountain group.
