Image collection »Kaisertal«

The Kaisertal joins the Inntal on the boundary between Ebbs and Kufstein and has carved a deep incision between the Zahmen and Wilden Kaiser mountains. It is the only settled valley in Austria that is still not accessible by road. The houses in the valley can only be reached by means of a footpath comprising 236 steps. Of further interest is the Tischofer Höhle cave. The earliest finds of human dwellings in the Tyrol are to be found here. Tool heads made of bone found here have been dated at between 27000 and 28000 years. It is thought that the cave was used as a copper smithy and foundry.
