The Kelchsautal runs in a southwest-north-easterly direction and joins the Brixental. The valley divides into the "kurzen Grund" and the "langen Grund" south of Kelchsau which belongs to Hopfgarten. Tourism is a major source of income. The small local skiing area is a member of the ski card group Ski World Wilder Kaiser-Brixental. Although only 7 kms from the Brixental, the location is more tranquil.
