Image collection »Spertental«
The Spertental runs in a south-north direction and joins the Brixental. There is intensive tourism in its upper reaches and a lift connection to the extensive ski region of Kitzbühel and Westendorf. In the mainly unspoilt head of the valley, which is an area of environmental protection, there is an unusual geological feature: the Großer Rettenstein (2366m), a limestone rock mass which towers steeply over the Grasberge (quarzphyllite) and stands out in sharp contrast to the gentle forms of the greywacke zone.
