Image collection »Brixental«

The Brixental with its river the Brixner Ache, which runs into the Inntal from an easterly direction, can be divided into two sections: the outer valley section from Wörgl to Hopfgarten and from there further south to the two long valleys, Kelchsau and Windau, and the inner east-west running section including the village of Brixen im Thale. The valley lies in the soft slates of the grauwacken zone which tends to produce gentle forms favouring agriculture and mountain pasture farming but also winter and summer tourism. Apart from the scattered villages over-developed by tourism which lie on the peripheral alluvial fans the landscape of the valley is characterised by the big partly log-cabin style farmhouses on the exposed southern valley slopes. The valley has good transport connections provided by the road from Wörgl to Kitzbühel and the Westbahn railway line.
