Located on the Vorarlberg side of the Bielerhöhe is the Ill works' Silvretta Stausee reservoir. The pass road was constructed a little above this. The particular characteristic of this reservoir is that it is dammed up on two sides. The watershed between the Rhine and the Danube is located at the head of the pass and it also marks the language boundary between the Vorarlberg and Tyrolean dialect.
