Image collection »Karneid«

On a castle hill with a steep drop down to the Eggentalschlucht gorge lies Castle Karneid which was built in the late 13th century. The layout is made up of a keep, main hall, residential tower, curcular wall and castle chapel with extensions into the 16th century. The castle has been in family possession since the late 18th century and has been restored several times since then. Nowadays the castle is open to the public thanks to an agreement between the community of Karneid and the owners.
