Image collection »Castle Rodenegg«

Castle Rodenegg was built over a steep gorge in the 12th century. Later it was enlarged to one of the largest castles in the Tyrol. With its walls, towers, battlements, patios and drawbridges castle Rodenegg looks like a fairytale castle. Real highlights are the oldest frescos which do not show religious scenes (beginning of the 13th century) in the German-speaking area. These wall paintings are similar to our modern comics. They show the adventures of Iwein, a knight of King Arthur's Round Table. Today parts of the castle are in danger of collapsing and therefore have to be secured.
