The castle ruin Rabenstein (1409m) is one of the highest-lying castles in Tyrol. It is located on a precipitous mountain slope above Virgen in East Tyrol. This medieval castle dates back to the 12th century and was for many years owned by the Counts of Görz and was also the seat of the legal court of Virgen. In 1703 the so-called "custodian" of the castle moved down into the valley and the castle was allowed to fall to ruin. Nowadays only remainders of the former castle are left.
