Castle Naudersberg was built from 1325 onwards as a place of jurisdiction for Nauders that was raised to the royal provincial high court. Up to 1919 the castle housed the court of jusrisdiction. In 1499 Naudersberg was destroyed by the Engadines, but was rebuilt under Emperor Maximilian I. When South Tyrol became part of Italy the castle lost its original importance and was temporarily used as a customs house and then as a children's home. Nowadays Naudersberg houses a museum and a cultural centre.
